Radar types up a report for headquarters recounting the events of the week. While Hawkeye and Trapper were in O.R., Hawkeye makes flirtatious remarks to a new nurse, Erika. Hawkeye's next patient, a Chinese P.O.W., is terrified and goes crazy in the O.R. He grabs a scalpel, slashes Erika, then cuts the vital tubes sustaining Trapper's patient Klinger subdues the P.O.W., but Trapper's patient is now critical. Hawkeye treats Erika, but notices a wedding ring on her finger. He's depressed. Frank enters Hot Lips' tent to find her bending over washing her hair. He bites her neck to find its Klinger. Frank goes to Henry to demand that Klinger be given a Section 8 discharge. Major Freedman arrives to examine Klinger. Trapper's patient takes a turn for the worse and needs another operation. Meanwhile, as Hawkeye looks at Erika's wound he can't resist kissing her. She tells him she isn't married, only wearing the ring to avoid unwanted wrestling matches. Hawkeye is ecstatic and plans to propose when he is called into the O.R. to help Trapper with his patient. As they are scrubbing, the patient dies. Trapper is extremely upset and goes over to the Chinese P.O.W. where he stares at the life-sustaining tubes running into him. Hawkeye reminds Trapper that his job is to save lives, not take them. Freedman authorizes the Section 8, but Klinger changes his mind when he learns he’ll be branded a transvestite and homosexual. Erika is transferred to Tokyo, telling Hawkeye she's fond of him but she doesn't believe in marriage. Hawkeye takes it in stride and they have a farewell drink.
