Hawkeye takes a new nurse, Suzanne, on a picnic, but soon gets shot at. He finds Frank and Hot Lips taking target practice and accuses Frank of firing wildly. Frank denies this as they get shot at again and realize a sniper is on the loose. By the time they all get back to camp the sniper has fired several shots into the camp and there are a few minor injuries. Col. Blake is trapped in the shower tent with Radar. Most of the personnel have gathered in the hospital for safety. Trapper phones headquarters to learn they can't get help until the following day. An ambulance arrives with wounded but they can't be brought into the hospital safely. Hawkeye suggests they surrender to the sniper. Prank objects strongly while Henry, Hawkeye and Trapper wave a white flag. The sniper holds his fire long enough for the wounded to be moved from the ambulance, then starts firing. Hawkeye and Trapper go to work on the wounded. The next day a chopper arrives and machine guns the hillside where the sniper is located. After finishing their work in the hospital, Hawkeye comes outside to see a blood-stained white flag waving on the hillside. After patching up the sniper, Hawkeye tells Trapper that the young sniper thought he was firing on MacArthur's headquarters. When Frank walks in, they put an officer's cap on his head and pipe in his mouth and decide to introduce him to the sniper as MacArthur.
