EPISODE K-411 CARRY ON, HAWKEYE - by Bernard Dilbert, Larry Gelbart & Laurence Marks; Story by Bernard Dilbert A flu epidemic hits the 4077th. Trapper, Frank and Henry are out of action, while Hawkeye must tend to the wounded as the only available doctor. Radar tries other commands, but they have also been hit hard by the flu and can't spare anyone. Hawkeye organizes Hot Lips, Radar, Father Mulcahy and some other nurses into operating teams. Radar informs Hawkeye that he's the ranking doctor and therefore in command, but Hot Lips reminds Hawkeye that she's a major. He lets her command and she tells him he is in charge of surgical matters and she will handle administration. Before long more wounded arrive and they are back in the O.R. Later, while Hot Lips sits in Henry Blake's chair, Hawkeye volunteers to substitute for Frank, but Hot Lips ignores his barb. Some flu serum arrives. Hot Lips wants her shot in the arm, while Hawkeye wants it in the derriere. Henry staggers back to his office and moves Hot Lips from his chair, resuming command. Delirious Frank mistakes Hot Lips for his wife and then his former secretary. Hawkeye finally gets the flu and after operating on the latest batch of casualties is put to bed. Later, Trapper, Frank and Henry recover and. along with Hot Lips, award the bedridden Hawkeye a roll of toilet paper signed in appreciation by the whole camp. Radar, taking his medical career seriously, comes in and orders the others out. His patient must rest.
