Pvt. Danny Baker, a young soldier with a very large nose, is returned to the 4077th by MPs after going AWOL. Baker confesses to Father Mulcahy that his nose is ruining his life. Mulcahy takes him to Hawkeye and Trapper who explain that they cannot perform elective surgery and they try to convince Baker that his nose is not a liability. Hawkeye knows a great plastic surgeon in Tokyo, Major Stanley Robbins. Hawkeye lures Robbins to the camp with the promise of a sexy, cooperative nurse — the Barracuda. Hot Lips and Frank suspect something sneaky when Robbins arrives. As part of a ruse to fool Frank, Baker gets a pass to Tokyo, then steals back to camp on foot. By that time, Radar feigns being hit in the nose while playing pitch-and-catch. The PA. calls Robbins to surgery, but he can't be found. Trapper locates him in the supply tent with Hot Lips. Trapper takes care of Hot Lips while Hawkeye brings Robbins to surgery. Frank discovers there is nothing wrong with Radar's nose and threatens to expose the operation. But, when they come to post-op they find all the patients wearing nose bandages. Later, Robbins thanks Hawkeye and Trapper for the nurse they sent, but the pair had forgotten the deal and must now discover which nurse was so accommodating.
