EPISODE K-420 AS YOU WERE - Written by Larry Gelbart & Laurence Marks; Story by Gene Reynolds There is a lull in the fighting and there are no casualties at the 4077th. Blake gets some sun, Mulcahy umpires a game, and Klinger renews his efforts to get a discharge. The gorilla suits Hawkeye and Trapper have ordered arrive. Meanwhile, Hot Lips and Frank are discussing his hernia. Frank reluctantly agrees to ask Hawkeye to operate on him during the lull, but almost backs out when he sees him in a gorilla suit. They agree and are about to start the operation when an announcement is made that wounded are arriving. Frank hasn't been sedated so he can work with Hawkeye and Trapper. Artillery shells fall nearby and blood runs low. Mulcahy organizes donors, while Radar phones an artillery unit and learns they've been ordered to shell near the hospital. As Frank finishes with his patient, his hernia acts up and he is taken to post-op. Since there's no time to operate, Hawkeye makes Frank comfortable. Radar has no luck stopping the shelling while Hawkeye and Trapper keep operating. Klinger finds a woman ready to deliver a baby and Trapper discovers Frank needs immediate surgery. The lights go out in the O.R. and nurses hold lanterns while Blake delivers the Korean woman and Hawkeye operates on Frank. Frank comes to and hears a baby's cries. Hawkeye announces that he and Hot Lips are the parents of a five-pound baby hernia. Finally, the rush ends and the 4077th is quiet again.
