EPISODE B-305

PAYDAY - by Regler and Markowitz

While Trapper is in a non-stop poker game, Hawkeye has been given the job of acting paymaster. When the job is done, Hawkeye slips Radar ten dollars that were left over. Radar is horrified. Any money left over calls for filling out the Refund Fund form. Radar makes it out and Hawkeye, grumbling, signs it. Meanwhile Quoc, who seems to arrive in camp every payday, sells Frank two strings of pearls, one genuine for his wife and the other imitation in case, Quoc suggests, he has something on the side. Klinger offers his savings to Blake for a discharge. Mulcahy tries to raise money for an orphanage, but gets a dribble of coins. While Hot Lips contemplates buying something from Quoc she learns about the two sets of necklaces he sold to Frank. Later, Hawkeye is at the Officer's Club when Radar comes in with the answer to their Refund Form. It's three thousand dollars. Hawkeye wants to send it back, but Radar reminds him what happened when they returned ten dollars. Frank gives Hot Lips a necklace, and she feigns ecstasy, saying he shouldn't have given her real ones. Imitation would have been fine. Frank pretends he likes being a big spender, but later he follows her to the shower and when she leaves the necklace on a nail while showering, he switches necklaces. Hot Lips smiles triumphantly. Hawkeye donates the money to Mulcahy's orphanage while Trapper hocks Hawkeye's watch to stay in the poker game. The army informs Hawkeye that he owes them three thousand dollars. The only solution is to appropriate Trapper's poker winnings. It's only fair, since he won the money lifting Hawkeye's watch.
