EPISODE B-307 OFFICER OF THE DAY - by Laurence Marks Lt. Col. Henry Blake is away and once again Frank is in charge. He conducts a by-the-book flag ceremony with bugle and cannon, then holds an Order Arms inspection. He dresses down Klinger at the inspection for earrings, nail polish and high heels. Klinger will never get out of the army that way. All Klinger wants is a pass to Seoul for mother's day. Request denied. Frank wakes Hawkeye from much needed sleep and tells him he is the next Officer of the Day. Protests fall on deaf ears. While napping in Blake's office, after overseeing the changing of the guard, Hawkeye is awakened by Radar who tells him that Kim Luck, a Korean, needs medical attention. He sends the local to the duty nurse. His next interruption is Col. Flagg of Intelligence. He has a badly wounded North Korean he needs to take to Seoul for interrogation and then execution as a spy. Hawkeye and Trapper operate on the prisoner, but refuse to turn him over to Flagg. He's too ill to travel. Meanwhile, Klinger has been trying every trick he can think of to get out of camp, from dressing up as a nun to dressing as a "business girl." Flagg goes to Hawkeye's C.O. Frank orders Hawkeye to sign the release and finally he has to give up. But, when the ambulance leaves carrying a blanketed figure, it proves to be Klinger. After all Hawkeye promised him a trip to Seoul.
