EPISODE B-322 AID STATION - by Larry Gelbart and Simon Muntner Henry Blake receives word that "I" Company's aid station has sustained heavy shelling and is in need of trained personnel. Their surgeon was killed and they need a new one, along with a nurse and corpsman. Blake calls for volunteers. Hot Lips is first to volunteer. The doctors draw straws and Hawkeye gets the short one. Mulcahy picks Klinger as the corpsman. Everyone at the 4077th keenly feels the danger the trio will be facing, but covers it with black humor. Klinger drives the Jeep and along the way gets a flat tire. Hot Lips orders him to stand guard while she changes the tire. Hawkeye's hands cannot be risked. They arrive at the aid station, which is a bombed out school house. The roof is gone and the patients are unsheltered. All three get to work cleaning up the area to use for surgery. Klinger is called on to work as an orderly, anesthetist and once even as a surgeon. Shells shower dust and debris on them. Hot Lips is a tower of strength, doubling as a surgeon and still having time to say comforting words to the patients. She tells them Hawkeye is the best. Back at the 4077th, Frank complains about the working conditions. Radar asks to sleep in Hawkeye's cot while Blake runs out of liquor and raids the still. At the aid station, Hawkeye and Hot Lips eat C rations and huddle for warmth under a single blanket. Eventually they return safely to M*A*S*H amidst general rejoicing. Hawkeye has a kiss for Hot Lips and Klinger has a compliment—she's aces.
