EPISODE B 324 ABYSSINA, HENRY- by Everett Greenbaum and Jim Fritzell Radar brings a message to Col. Henry Blake. He's being discharged from the Army. Blake can hardly believe it and makes plans to call his wife Lorraine back in Wisconsin. Frank and Hot Lips are in her tent exulting. Finally, Frank is going to get to command. Can’t he just feel the power surging, she asks. Hot Lips pins a silver oak leaf cluster on his shirt as he sweeps her into his arms. Hawkeye and Trapper contemplate the horrid prospect of being commanded by Frank. Henry calls his wife, who cries, and speaks with his son and daughter. While Henry is away, Hot Lips and Frank survey his office, and make plans to redecorate it. Radar gives Blake a gift, and Henry gives Radar an heirloom -- a rectal thermometer. There's a considerable celebration at Rosie's bar. Henry, Radar, Hawkeye, and Trapper get loaded on sake. As Blake blubbers, Hawkeye strips him of his insignia and the buttons on his shirt, declaring him a civilian. Trapper produces a box containing a civilian suit made in Seoul. In the morning, Frank has Radar play "Assembly." Henry's chopper is ready and Henry comes to say good-bye to Hawkeye, Trapper, and Klinger who is dressed in a Carmen Miranda outfit.
