EPISODE G-503 OF MOOSE AND MEN - by Jay Folb Trying to avoid a roadblock, Hawkeye accidentally splashes mud on Col. Spiker, who complains of his lack of military courtesy. In camp, B.J. finds Sgt. Zale drinking heavily because he got a Dear John letter from his wife. Though she had an affair, she wants only Zale. Zale refuses to be rational and breaks his hand punching a wall. Meanwhile, Frank Burns suspects all Koreans of carrying bombs. Col. Spiker is brought in with shrapnel. Hawkeye removes some of the fragments, then enlarges the incision to remove a bone splinter in the Colonel's heart. Later Frank inspects some Korean peddlers and restricts them from the base. Spiker recovers and tells Col. Potter he's pressing charges against Hawkeye, but forgives him when Potter tells him Hawkeye saved his life. Spiker lets Hawkeye off the hook. Hawkeye pretends enormous gratitude. B.J. writes a forgiving letter for Zale to send his wife, while Frank unearths a Korean bomb that turns out to be a pickled cabbage pot.
