A fever of unknown origin is sending men into the hospital at an alarming rate. At the same time, the Soldier of the Month contest is being held with the winner getting a trip to Tokyo. The fever may be caused by fleas from rodents and Hawkeye nominates Frank as the rat control officer. Frank declines, but when Hop Lips suggests he may get a promotion if he finds the cause of the fever, he agrees. Radar and Klinger are most interested in the contest. Radar studies hard, but Klinger learns Potter has the test questions and sneaks into his office to photograph them. Mulcahy learns the fever has been seen in another war and it's important to restrict fluids. Frank drinks water constantly and finally collapses. He's hospitalized, while Radar and Klinger take the test. Hawkeye mixes up the questions and Klinger loses. Meanwhile, Frank feels a little better and summons Mulcahy to hear his last will and testament. He leaves all his money to his wife and his clothes to Hot Lips. Radar is sent to Tokyo. Hot Lips takes Frank into her tent and hits him, telling him the next time he wants to give his clothes away he should give them to someone his own size.
