Col. Coner sends his men out to pick up American dead which results in a rush of wounded at the 4077. The O.R and Post-Op are overcrowded and Hawkeye is concerned about Coner's policies. Klinger has to rig an IV on a nail pounded into the wall. In the midst of all this Frank Burns complains that the locals are stealing the camp's garbage. Something should be done about it. Nurse Able wants to have a little recreation with Hawkeye in the Swamp, but he is unable to respond properly and that leaves him thoughtful about what might be wrong. Frank decides to auction off the garbage to local contractors. Radar gets his own patient, a boy named Gerald whose life he saved by noting that the nailed-up I.V. had fallen out. But Gerald has serious wounds and needs more surgery. Coner is brought in wounded and Hawkeye criticizes him for risking men to reclaim dead bodies. Every one of our fallen boys deserves an American coffin is his answer. Frank auctions off 150 pounds of garbage, but Gerald has taken a turn for the worse. He dies and Radar is shattered. Potter, concerned about Hawkeye, tries to get him to relax with a game of horseshoes. He has other plans. Hawkeye calls everyone together to give Col. Coner a sendoff. As Coner gets in his jeep a helicopter hovers overhead and at Hawkeye's signal, a rope is pulled dumping garbage over the Colonel. Hawkeye feels so good he tells nurse Able he thinks his problem is over.
