EPISODE G-522 DER TAG - by Everett Greenbaum and Jim Fritzell Frank is more unbearable than usual and Potter suggests Hawkeye and B.J. try treating him like a pal. Later while Mulcahy, Klinger and B.J. are playing poker in the swamp, Hawkeye asks Frank to join them. He can scarcely believe his ears, but they reassure him. He joins the game, pulls out a wad of money and gulps the drink B.J. gave him. Frank tells them he really doesn't know how to play and all agree to give him some lessons. Frank gulps down more drinks and eventually cleans up the game. Later, from passing out in the Officer's Club, Frank is brought back to his bunk by Hawkeye and B.J. Seeing him sprawled out on his cot, B.J. is tempted and puts a toe tag on Frank that reads "emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt." Frank is still wearing it later when he stumbles out to the latrine. Frank weaves from the latrine and falls into an open ambulance, which takes off for the front. Radar breaks the news that Frank is missing, then the front calls and Potter realizes how Frank got to the front. Just as Potter is about to send Hawkeye and B.J. after Frank, he learns there's a heavy barrage at the front. Soon casualties pour into the 4077 and they work through the night. The only one fresh is Frank. They were so friendly to him, he complains. They try to tell him it was a dream and abandon any plans of ever trying to be friendly again.
